At a time when the style of country music had veered more to pop and dance music, leaving behind its traditional sounds that built Nashville, Mo Pitney enjoyed his first success as a singer and songwriter who enthusiastically embraced a classic country sound.
On his sophomore 13-song album, “Ain’t Lookin’ Back,” which features 7 songs co-written by Pitney and produced by Jim “Moose” Brown, the album contains additional co-writing contributions from a powerhouse list of some of the best in the business, including: Bobby Tomberlin, Wil Nance, Paul Overstreet, Phil O'Donnell, Trent Willmon, Tony Lane, Jim "Moose" Brown, Don Sampson, Mark Nesler, Tim Nichols, Tony Martin, Derek George, Wendell Mobley, Mitch Jayne, Dean Webb, Matt Jenkins, Trevor Rosen, Matt Ramsey, Matt Alderman, Billy Montana, Randy Montana, Adam Wood, Jimmy Yeary, Dean Dillon, and Tom Douglas. Pitney, who has been named to multiple “Artists To Watch” lists by the likes of Rolling Stone, Billboard, The Huffington Post, Bobby Bones, and Spotify, among others, is influenced by traditional country music, bluegrass, blues, and singer/songwriters like Randy Newman and James Taylor. The lyrical content of this 2020 release speaks more to a rebirth in life, emphasizing the ability to make it this far in life, to shed off your past, and to live a future of light and love and grace and forgiveness, and then see that cycle repeat itself. “The end-goal is to shut out all other voices, close our eyes, and create something that came from the heart. Pitney comments, “I’m looking forward to taking this body of work that is completely me and sharing it with the world. I’m excited to see people’s reactions, whether positive or negative. No matter what, I ain’t lookin’ back.”
