Jeremias Keller, the accomplished band leader, bassist, and composer, has released his latest solo album, "Alloy," showcasing his creative genius as a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and indie producer. Known for leading the band Vertigo, as well as his home studio project Lakota and his recent bassist position with Nik Bärtsch's "Ronin," Keller's newest work is a concept album with a unique approach.
Blending elements of post-rock, prog, jazz, electronica, and indie pop, Keller's reinvention of Moduls by Nik Bärtsch and Ronin is a one-of-a-kind musical journey. His skillful modulation of the pieces, combined with his distinct soundscapes and rhythmic interpretations, creates a "Neue Groove Musik" that delves into club sound, ambient trance, meditative depth, and even humorous and quirky sounds reminiscent of electronically driven classical music.
The album features five pieces, "Vanadium," "Silicium," "Germanium," "Ferrum," and "Oxygenium," each based on Moduls 23, 14, 32, 26, and 8, respectively, and each moving away from the original templates in various ways. Keller's approach is both creative and scientific, exploring music as a science fiction author would through recombining rhythmic levels, tonal structures, and harmonies in his home studio. He recorded and mixed the entire album himself, using a vast array of instruments, including keyboards, guitars, electric and double basses, drums, percussion, recorders, flutes, vocals, and even bird whistles, creating a new cosmos of acoustic and electronic sounds.
Keller's "Alloy" is not just a showcase of his musical prowess but a testament to his ability to interpret and transform musical templates in new and creative ways. His seamless meandering between composition, interpretation, and improvisation is a testament to his infinite, energetic creativity. With this album, Keller solidifies his position as one of the biggest talents in the Swiss music scene, producing music with the finesse of an internationally experienced artist, yet with the freshness of a beginner's mind. "Alloy" is a bold and consciousness-raising addition to the natural flow of music history.
