Gerald Becket plays both flute and alto flute in a mix of settings as he teams with Ruben Salcido adding alto and tenor sax, Noah Frank and Larry Douglas blending in trumpet, with rhythms handled by Ari Caprow on guitar, both Steve McQuarry and Terry Rodriguez taking turns on the piano, Carl Herder and Paul Federighi digging in on the bass, Greg German and Fred Johnson hitting the drums and Vincent De Jesus on percussion. The various musician lineups explore a rich mix of originals and modern covers. Beckett himself is all aglow throughout, floating on the pretty ballad “Ode To Ray Wood” and richly bouncing on the post bopper “John Neely-Beautiful People”. Truly very strong winds across the horizon.
