Finding CD’s or even Vinyl copies from the early years of Fleetwood Mac has become challenging, and now Rhino will release an eight CD box set that contains their seven albums from 1969 to 1974. During this five year period the group went through several different band line-ups, from founding members Fleetwood, Green, McVie and Spencer; to later additions like Danny Kirwan, Christine McVie, Dave Walker, Bob Welch, and Bob Weston.
The seven remastered studio albums included in the clamshell box set are: Then Play On (1969), Kiln House (1970), Future Games (1971), Bare Trees (1972), Penguin (1973), Mystery to Me (1973), and Heroes are Hard to Find (1974). The majority of discs include bonus tracks, such as single versions, non-album tracks plus a few alternates.
The eighth CD contains an unreleased recording of a concert at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California on December 15, 1974. The performance was simulcast on KSAN-FM radio station in San Francisco back in the day, and bootlegs have floated around for years.
While the 1969 to 1972 albums were reissued on vinyl back in 2013, the 1973 through 1974 releases are also getting a new life on vinyl during this run in 2020 in a four LP box set.
